Bible Translation:

     There are still over 3000 languages in the world that do not have any access to the Bible. This number is astronomical! We have to do something about it. The church has to do something about it. 

    Wycliffe Associates is. Working faithfully with indigenous translators from all across the world More Bibles are hitting the hearts of more people than ever before in history! This is a perfect model of how the Bride of Christ bans together in unity to affect the Kingdom in his name. 

Because there have been such great strides in translation over the last few years Wycliffe Associates has instituted a new vision for the organization and for the church at large. 

Vision 2025

In the year 2025 we want to have a translation project started in every language that needs one.  A huge task you say? Yes, yes it is. How will we every get this accomplished? Vision 2025 will be accomplished because of three legs that Wycliffe Associates stand firmly on: 

1. We have an able God.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,--Ephesians 3:20 
2. Through constant, persistent, fervent prayers of the church.
He prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. --James 5:16b
3. Diligent, devoted staff and volunteers. 
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace. --1 Peter 4:10 

Where Do I Fit In:

     Think about how many words you have used today. Think about how many figures of speech, jokes, sarcasms, or slang expressions you've used. The Bible uses those as well. Also, every language in the world uses those in one way or another. How do you think someone speaking another language would be able to translate the biblical figures of speech and expressions into their own figures of speech and expressions? It would be very difficult to say the least.

     This is where I fall into my role at Wycliffe Associates. I lead and manage a team of brilliant individuals who painstakingly work to define hundreds upon hundreds of biblical words and terms all for the purpose of creating a useful tool so that the Bible will be able to go out with more ease and with more speed. 

     It is a long, process.  But at the very same time, it is a process that hold such an important place in how the Bible gets translated. 
Is a man to do nothing for God that he does not immediately like? God pity him, if not. Liking of disliking has nothing to do with it. We have orders to "Go" so we go. Love Constrains us. --Doland S. Whitney
     This of course does not mean I do not enjoy what I do, I love it. It is a privilege and a blessing to be a part of  the work that is being done. My point is that regardless of the honor bestowed to work on a project as great as thing, what is motivating and inspiring is the love I have for the Lord, his life giving word, and the people whom he loves worldwide.

What Else Do I Do:

I am a staff member with Wycliffe Associates. I work with my team daily. That being said there are other things that I do to both support that ministry, as well as support the local church in her ministry. 

  • I write and publish books and other articles to promote the Kingdom of God, as well as assist the church in her spiritual journey. 
  • I preach at churches to either fill in the pulpit while their pastor is away or to promote Bible translation
  • I go into churches and coach them through how to establish and effectively lead mission/outreach programs.
  • Speak at retreats, camps, conferences, etc.

Who Am I:

I am a graduate of Moody Bible Institute in the wonderful city of Chicago, Illinois. While I was there I studied Children and Family Ministry as well as Biblical Studies. 

I am married to the woman of my dreams and we live in Appleton, WI where we enjoy all four seasons, but mostly it's winter. 

I am an avid reader (which may be an understatement) and I enjoy working with my hands. 

My favorite things to read, talk about, write about, pretty much do anything are: Theology, Philosophy, History, and Craftsmanship.
